Run For The Arts T-Shirt Design Contest

4 Nov

Outside our office on this beautiful Fall day, the sun is shining and it’s nearly 70 degrees, which is unusual for us in Portland. To make things even better, we finally received the last submissions for our annual Run For The Arts (RFA) T-Shirt Design Contest.

Run For The Arts is a program we’ve had in place
since 1977 and has provided a means for schools to raise funds to get much-need arts education in their classrooms. RFA is a yearly jogathon conducted by the schools themselves, here in Oregon and in SW Washington, coordinated by Young Audiences. The funds they raise can be used for arts programming, arts-related fields trips, art supplies and teacher professional development. Over the course of 33 years, the schools combined have raised over $12,000,000!

The main attraction for students taking part in the Run are the t-shirts awarded as prizes each year. Every October we encourage local students from middle and high schools to submit artwork which could eventually be used as the main design for that years t-shirt prize. For us, it becomes one of the highlights of the year as we get LOTS of entries! And every year, it gets tougher to select a winner because they’re all so great. Stay tuned to see what gets selected!
