Artists Sought in Central Oregon

This came across my desk last week while I was out on jury duty (first time in my life that I was actually on a jury) and I thought it was worth mentioning simply because the arts are even more important  in rural areas than metropolitan areas…

Columbia Gorge Arts in Education (CGAIE) is now accepting applications from artists for it’s 2012 – 2014 Artists in Schools Program.   Artists will provide hands-on arts education to K-12 students in the Mid-Columbia region in residency programs which run from 1 – 3 weeks at 20 hours per week.  Other special community projects are also available.

We are seeking applications from professional or teaching artists who work in Visual, (including 3D arts and Fiber Arts), Ethnic Arts, Arts of Mexico, Native American Arts,  Music, Theatre, Film, Literary and Storytelling Arts.   Applicants must be interested in teaching mostly elementary to middle school-age kids.

Columbia Gorge Arts in Education is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high quality arts education to schoolchildren in Hood River, Wasco, Sherman and Klickitat Counties.  In our 25 years of existence, we have brought hundreds of artists into local schools, libraries and communities.  Operating primarily on grants and donations, we also sponsor community arts projects and teacher development programs.
